Down Time

Updated: Aug 28, 2019

With Hot Girl/City Boy summer reaching its end, the energy looks to be shifting to one more calm. Things are settling down and people seem to be recharging in preparation for September.

These last few months have been full of new experiences, connections and opportunities to learn about the world and myself. I've realized when we get placed into these positions, sometimes we lose track of where we are exactly. Putting our energy into the work at hand, we forget about everything outside of it. I'm guilty of this habit and I forget to come up for air, thinking if I work hard and efficient enough then I wont be this busy for much longer, right? Another thought that plays is, "when this comes together, they might understand why I had to dedicate all this time to it". We all have our own passions we give time too. We care about the amount of focus we invest in it so we want things to go & look as perfect as possible. I feel it lets those who see/receive it feel the effort put into it.

The month of August was a moment I got to enjoy that downtime I didn’t think I needed. I got to celebrate the birthday of my sister (what's good, fam) and 3 very close friends of mine. With each one I went to, I was reminded what it felt like to enjoy those moments with people you care about. It also helped to remind me of the energy and love that I've felt; anything less is something I don’t need to be around. Both are big lessons to learn as we go through our journey, energies don't lie.

One of the best parts of this was once I started working again, I felt rejuvenated, like I could go another few months without a break. I had new ideas and a new motivation to put on for those I care about.

This post started as random thoughts I wrote down in my phone. Not with the intent to preach but more to remind whoever is reading, it's ok to take a break. It's ok to put work on hold to check up on your loved ones. Besides, that love and support is what allowed us to stay working that long in the first place.

If you can, reconnect via text or call with someone you care about who you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Check up on them and see how they're doing. A quick message goes a long way.

Also want to take this time to shout out everyone on their grind who may have felt like this. It's tough on your mental but any pain you'll be better for it.

Until next time.

Trev.

P.S. The photo below is one of the birthday moments I was able to be apart of. Shoutout to all the Leos and Virgos who celebrated this month!
